The term Amaanah in its simplest and closest English translation means fulfilling and upholding trusts gifted to you by God. It is the moral responsibility of fulfilling one's obligations towards God and those towards people. In addition, women are a form of Amaanah; men are entrusted with women under their care - a husband with his wife, and a father with his daughter. As an artwork, it centres around the Islamic symbolism of women - in particular, daughters. This piece rejects the oppressive stereotype of Islam and instead reflects the power of daughters in Islam and the reward of educating, protecting and treating them with utmost respect, love and care in this world.
